ABSTRACT

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the role of parents in assisting and educating children with autism is limited to their ability and knowledge of how to educate children with autism, parents with low parenting self-efficacy should work hard to meet the demands of the family, putting them at risk of stress and depression. This study aims to determine the need for a "smart parenting"module to increase parenting self-efficacy for mothers of autistic children at SLB Negeri Surakarta during the COVID-19 pandemic. The needs analysis of this module uses qualitative research with descriptive data analysis techniques and data collection through interviews. According to the findings of this study, mothers of children with autism in SLB Surakarta have low parenting self-efficacy, indicating that parents of autism children require a smart parenting module to improve parenting self-efficacy. It can be concluded that parenting self-efficacy is an important aspect that every parent, particularly mothers with autism children who face many challenges in the process of parenting autism children during the covid-19 pandemic must possess. © 2021 ACM.
